In March, the City of Fort Dodge accepted a $600,000 Community Development Block Grant for the expansion of Community Early Childhood Center. The first step, an environmental review, is currently in process and will be completed by MIDAS Council of Governments, the administrator of the grant award. Using the federal Housing and Urban Development (HUD) guidelines, MIDAS develops and completes an environmental assessment. Once the assessment is completed there is a 30-day public comment period. During that time, the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) will review the assessment. After the public comment period closes and the assessment is approved, IEDA will issue a release of funds and the process for procuring a construction contract can begin.
